Our History

Our story begins on May 1, 1988 when Il Man Chung and Sam Soon Chung opened up the very first Koa Pancake House on the island of O'ahu. This dine-in breakfast and lunch restaurant got its name from its interior, which is made out of Koa, a highly-prized type of Hawaiian wood. In 2001, they opened their second location in Wahiawa, O'ahu, and adapted their restaurant concept to better meet the fast-paced lifestyles of customers by offering a much more casual and an efficient dining experience.  Over the years, Mr. and Mrs. Chung built 6 Koa Pancake House locations across the island of O'ahu.

In 2014, Mr. and Mrs. Chung passed the family business over to their son, Juno Chung. Taking the foundation that his parents built, Juno plans to expand the business throughout the islands of Hawai'i and eventually to the continental US.

Koa Pancake House's goal is to serve great food to locals and visitors alike that highlight the unique local flavors of Hawai'i's diverse cuisine.  We pride ourselves in offering familiar breakfast staples along with popular local dishes that accentuate the taste and culture of Hawai'i.  Our mission is to offer the best food we can at a reasonable price while providing our patrons with fast and friendly customer service.
